CLUB WRITEUPS

September 2006 Collector´s Club

2005 Owen Roe Abbot´s Table
Once again, this outstanding wine finds its way into the club.   Every year, winemaker David O´Reilly crafts a spectacularly rich, dark, and fun wine that is always worth far more than its $23.00.  It´s a blend of about fifteen different varietals, and we have a reasonable amount left - but don´t wait!  It´ll hold in your cellar for another five years, and I´d have it with a nice beef roast.

2005 Stevenspose #11B Sauvignon Blanc
Winemaker Tim Stevens makes one of the best Sauvignon Blancs in the state, usually in fairly short supply - we do have a bit more at $17.00 - and always very, very popular.  I´d have it with a nice fish dish (which is what I´ll be doing with it this weekend!); either cod or halibut for preference.   He also does his own artwork, and you can see some examples of his art on our art wall.

2005 Domaine Gerovassilious Malagousia
We finally have a Greek wine section!  Greece is really the country-of-origin for most of the western world´s wine trade, and we´re finally seeing the good wines coming in.  If you were here for our Greek wine tasting, you had a treat - outstanding wines from our new importer.  This aromatic grape almost died out; this version comes from Thessaloniki in northern Greece.   You´ll be seeing more wines from this outstanding wine region in future clubs.   This one is $21.00, and there´s more available.

2005 Chateau Grande Cassagne Rosé
Every year, this is our best-selling rosé, brought in by our favorite French importer, Robert Kacher.  This outstanding property is located south of the city of Nimes.  It´s ready to go, and we have a bit left at $9.75.

2001 Forte Canto Primitivo Salento
We´re happy to have this wine in our club.  It´s another Small Vineyards selection, and, after it´s been open for a bit, has a wonderful aroma of lilies.  It´s made from the same genetic grape as Zinfandel, and I´d pair it with the same foods you´d have Zin with.   We have a bit more available at $13.00.

2004 Domaine de Coussergues Syrah
Unfortunately, we only have a microscopic amount of this wine left for sale - it´s $8.00, and comes from the south of France.  Tasty!   Enjoy!
