November 2006 Collector´s Club
2002 Domaine Marc Roy Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes
This Burgundy, from a wonderful vintage, is the product of a
closeout - an importer going out of business, in this case. Made from 100% Pinot
Noir (as are most red burgundies - the exception is listed below,) this wine will age
well for another five years in a temperature - controlled cellar. We have a
small amount of this one left at $29.75.
2005 Buty Semillon-Sauvignon Blanc
Wow. What a wine. As usual, winemaker Caleb Foster
has crafted an outstanding white blend. Year in, year out this is one of my
favorite wines from Washington. It´s a beautiful rich wine that will work well
with turkey, among many other meals. It´s $22.00, and we have access to a
bit more.
2004 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Bourgogne Passetoutgrain
This here wine is the exception to the Burgundy/Pinot rule - it´s
made from a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay Noir. It´s made for young drinking
and is ready to go. We bought all the remaining stock of this one, and it´d
make a wonderful wine for Turkey day. It´s all of $15.00.
2005 Domaine de Couron Marselan
This is an unusual wine, as the Marselan grape is only grown in
four vineyards in the world. The grape is a laboratory cross between Cabernet
Sauvignon and Grenache. It´s delicious as well as being unusual.
It´ll take another few years in your cellar, and runs $11.00.
Light´s View Winery "The Virginian"
Balanced Vine Chardonnay
Here´s a nice, light Chardonnay from the Adelaide Plains
region. It´s an inexpensive number, and we have a bit more left.
It´s $8.00, and ready to drink.
2004 Verasol Garnacha
Here´s a nice Spanish red from the Campo de Borja region;
a nice, rich red perfect for richer jammy meats. It´s an excellent deal
(something of a theme this month), running all of $8.00. It´s all ready
to drink.
