December 2006 Collector´s Club
2005 Pierre Usseglio Cotes du Rhone
This wine is basically a baby Chateauneuf-du-Pape, and is absolutely
delicious, from a vintage we´ll be hearing a lot more about. This will hold
up well in your cellar for another few years. It´s $25.00, and there´s
some left. Enjoy it with pork, lamb or game dishes.
2006 Mulderbosch Sauvignon Blanc
Every year, this is the finest Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa,
and every year it gets harder to get. It is $22.00, and we might be able to get a
bit more. It´s ready to go, and would be wonderful with shellfish and cheese
dishes.
2004 Fidelitas M100 Red Wine
Winemake Charlie Hoppes certainly knows his stuff. As one of
the head winemakers at Chateau Ste-Michelle, he perfected his craft and at Fidelitas he
just goes from strength to strength. This delicious red blend is ready to drink
and goes for $19.75.
NV Tenuta Ponte Aglianico Rosso Irpinia
This wine comes from our friends at Small Vineyards Imports, and is
the start of another direct import string. You´ll be seeing a few more from
this container. As usual, the wines are excellent. Aglianico is one of my
favorite grapes (it´s really the one responsible for me being an Italian wine
fan), and this is the wine that used to be known as Carazita. It´s $14.00,
and there´s a bit more left. It´s ready to drink.
2004 Cantine la Quercia Montepulciano d´Abruzzo
Here´s a fun everyday quaffer from that same Small
Vineyards container. It´s $9.75, and a great party wine - also an excellent
pizza and pasta wine. There´s not tons left, but there is a bit.
2005 Val Grieux Picpoul de Pinet
Picpoul is the name of the grape; it´s a light, refreshing
quaffer that will go well with seafood and cheese. It´s $9.00, and
there´s a reasonable amount left. Enjoy!
