2000 Betz Family Winery Père de Famille and Clos de Betz
Yes, that´s right - I´m placing my Betz this month...(ok, I´ll stop with the puns).  These are two outstanding wines from Bob Betz, one of Washington State´s two holders of the prestigious Master of Wine degree (the other being David Lake of Columbia Winery).  He´s the consulting enologist at Chateau Ste-Michelle, and, starting with the 1999 vintage (we have a bit left), he makes his own spectacular stuff.  The Clos de Betz is a Merlot-based wine; the Père de Famille is Cabernet-based, and both are outstanding.  Hold ´em or drink ´em; the choice is yours, but do drink up within the next three to five years.  There´s very small amounts of these available, $26.75 for the Clos de Betz and $42.75 for the Père de Famille.
