July 2003 Washington Wine Club
2001 Columbia Winery Alder Ridge Vineyard
Barbera
This one´s a real rarity in this club - and store - for a number
of reasons: it´s from a giant winery, a giant distributor… but
it´s that good. And somewhat rare, since selling
Washington State Barbera (an Italian varietal) is rather new.
It´s also outstandingly priced at $19.75. Hard to argue,
and you´ll notice I didn´t.
2002 Syncline Wine Cellars Alder Ridge
Vineyard Roussanne
From the same vineyard as the preceding wine (yes, it´s a
coincidence), this white Rhone varietal is having a surge of
popularity in the state. It´s from our friends James and
Poppie Mantone, who seem to believe in producing microscopic
quantities of each wine. They certainly keep their prices down;
this one´s $18.75. They certainly keep their quality up.
Glad to include it as our first white Club wine.
