2001 James Leigh Cellars Syrah and Palette
A pair of wines from a new Walla Walla outfit.  The Syrah ($24.75) features a dark fruit profile, and has a nice, earthy aroma that matches well with smoked meats.  The Palette ($19.50) is 100% Merlot, and is rich and juicy.  Both are made from Walla Walla Valley fruit, which is the goal of the winery.  Winemaker Jamie Brown has worked with Eric Dunham and Mark Colvin, among others.  Good stuff!
