Washington Wine Club November 2003
2002 Owen Roe DuBrul Vineyard Syrah
I honestly can´t believe we got enough of this wine for the club. Last
year, we were able to get three of the Cabernet and two of the Merlot... we tried
this at an industry tasting last month, and were absolutely blown away by the
intensity and purity of the fruit, the power of the wine, and its gorgeous balance.
Yet another triumph for the folks who brought us Abbott´s Table Red!
It´s $60.00, and I´d wait a bit before opening it up.
2001 Maryhill Proprieter´s Reserve Cabernet
Sauvignon
I was at the Maryhill winery recently for a concert (Emmylou Harris, and yes, it was
wonderful - go check the facility, it´s worth the drive!), and one of the
managers of the winery dragged me aside to try this. Good move on his part.
The wine is jam-packed and a pleasure to drink. It´s ready to go
now, and will hold over the next three years. There´s still some left
around, and it´s $28.50.
