CLUB WRITEUPS

April 2005 Washington Wine of the Month

2002 Buty Rediviva of the Stones
Another of those verticals I´ve mentioned.  We´ve included this wine before (along with many other Buty wines), because they´re what this club is about - the best wines our state makes.  When I tried the Syrah that is the main component of this wine in the barrel, I was absolutely knocked out, and I still am.  It´s incredibly well-made and balanced, with excellent aging potential.  Give it at least five years.   There´s a tiny bit more at $39.75.  As always, we´ll try to get more in stock.

2003 Lost River Syrah
One old favorite, one new one!  The Lost River Winery has been producing some outstanding wines since we found them at an Ohme Gardens, Wenatchee tasting last year.   We´ve been carrying their Semillon (now sold out), their Merlot (likewise), their Cabernet Sauvignon (still a bit left), and now their Syrah, which is all Walla Walla Valley fruit, mostly from Morrison Lane and Les Collines vineyards.  It´ll make an interesting comparison with K Vintner´s Morrison Lane and the Morrison Lane Winery´s own output.   The price is also outstanding - all of $21.00.  There´s a reasonable quantity left.   I´m looking forward to what this Mazama-based winery does next!
