January 2006 Washington Wine Club
2003 Va Piano Cabernet Sauvignon
You know, sometimes luck plays an amazing role in this business.
On my annual trip to Walla Walla, I stopped in at the Dunham Cellars winery.
Winemaker Eric Dunham recommended that I crash a winery release party at Va Piano
Vineyards, just south of town. What the heck. I did, and the fruits of my
valiant party-crashing are here: an excellent winery´s first release of Cabernet
Sauvignon (we also have a bit of the Syrah as well). The wine is outstanding.
It´s $38.00, and we´re out of the cab. Drink within the next five years.
2003 Cayuse Vineyards Cailloux Vineyard Syrah
Do I really need to describe this wine to the members of this
club? It´s $52.25, gone, and needs a bunch of time in your cellar. Christophe
Baron knows what he´s doing. Enjoy.
Our wine classes still have room available! They´re held on Thursdays at 7:30 PM,
starting January 19th with a Basic Tasting Class, followed on the 26th with a Spain and
Portugal Seminar. February 2nd will see a Germany/Austria class, the 9th an Italian
class, and the 16th a French class. All classes are $35.00, with discounts for
multiple classes or for club memberships. Hope to see you there!
