September 2006 Washington Wine Club
2004 Va Piano Vineyards Syrah
We only were able to get two cases of winemaker Justin Wylie´s
new release, although there´s probably a bit more available directly from the
winery. This current release is all Columbia Valley fruit, as it comes from the
vintage where Walla Walla´s vines all froze! It is a dark, rich,
exotically-spiced wine, that´ll hold in your cellar for another five years or
more. It was $38.00.
2001 Des Voigne Cellars Solea
What? Another Washington winery making excellent wine?
This Woodinville-based winery impressed me with all their selections, and this
extremely limited wine is $28.00, and will hold for up to eight years in your cellar.
It´s a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Malbec.
It´s named after a Miles Davis song. Only 137 cases were made of this all
Red Mountain vineyard wine.
