November 2006 Washington Wine Club
2001 Reininger Cima
For as long as I´ve been doing this, I´ve felt that Chuck
Reininger is one of the finest winemakers in Walla Walla. This is his
Sangiovese/Cabernet/Merlot/Cabernet Franc blend, and it´s worth aging a bit. Say,
another five years or so. It´s his premium blend, and he doesn´t make much.
It runs $49.75, and we can get a tiny amount more.
2004 Syncline McKinley Springs Vineyard Syrah
Another of our favorite winemakers, James Mantone, is responsible
for this gem - Syrah that tastes like syrah! A light touch on the oak, this wine
will age another five years or more with little trouble. It´s $29.75, and
lovely. There´s a bit more available.
